The Bulgarian version of the legendary race of endurance and survival in an urban environment Urbanathlon will take place in Sofia in the children's Day - June 1, 2013.
What is the history of this race?
City children and challenge magazine Men's Health – Urbanathlon first began on the streets of three of the largest American cities – Chicago, new York, San Francisco. The aim of the competition is run with a length between 15 and 18 km, including the classic yrbn overcoming obstacles – stairs, benches, car traffic. The success of this initiative continues in other parts of the world – Russia, Singapore, Germany, Australia, and South Africa.
In the Bulgarian version of the obstacles included the following tasks:
1. Passage car tire
2. The transition to labirintai track from metal and glass
3. Creep under military network
4. The transition in the old bus

I decided to join the first which was held in Bulgaria Urbanathlon to view functional status in the present (after a short recovery period, followed by serious injuries), and I was curious if I would be able to handle long runs for about 7 km and it, including 8 different types of obstacles throughout the route. Since I systemsall only sprintime disciplines (100 and 200m), even if I was in perfect health, this distance was new to me and I've never been probaval the distance of the race. So for me it was a problem, as for many other fans running (Amateur), among 600 participants.
Successfully the first Russian edition of Urbanathlon? Partially? Why only partly? Because, as often happens, some ended to work very well, while others strongly did not. Online registration and registration on the spot, I think that was implemented smoothly and without problems. Was thinking even about the possibility to leave the Luggage at the employees. This makes the initial 30 seconds after 4-5 minutes, the advantage that it automatically guarantees a victory polyprofessional and professional runners went first. (There is no accumulation of certain obstacles, opponents, quite easily can be located by numbers and to be placed to run in a certain time interval, which is to be corrected when processing the final results.) For me and for most participants, whose goal is simply to finish, on a trip, doesn't matter, but it is unjust and unfair to the others who strive to win. Do not forget that each participant pay 5 or 10 euros (depending on recording time) and some riders are fighting for a prize pool of 1,000 euros for first place, 600 for second and 400 for third. In this position a little honesty in the provision of unfair advantage to someone will not be excessive. But let's move on to the event itself. All athletes, after those that went in first, ultimately, was not located in numerical order (as was reported), and we indiscriminately enthusiasts who decided to get ahead a part of the group in the beginning, were deceived and were overtaken a little later, because staying in a long queue, as the stairs up to the first obstacle (car tires) and the obstacle. If you think that was the only problematic place to lie down. Apparently the organizers forgot to coordinate with the traffic police. On one of the transitions (after the Monument to the Soviet army), the situation was the most prapanna: after we ahead of 20-30 riders may have to stop and wait for about 5 minutes at an intersection where traffic was not suspended, and regulirovat we do not pay any attention and continued producing cars. And we can finish with a pleasant atmosphere while running a variety of treatments from automotive emissions. Due to the fact that a large part of the route was along streets that were normally busy as Saturday in Sofia and the movement was not a removal, nor limited, all nagylaki with enough for several weeks, the amount of CO2 and other gases and metals. Expectations and the desire to experiment participants before the race, in the end, left more than happy after the end.
Not to be a treadmill for the organizers efforts and their great desire to organize for the first time (lot of time) is something new for Bulgaria in the field of mass sports, we can say that Urbanathlon 2013 was a partial success. If the organizers learn from the mistakes (to do this, we must first see them), will expect an even more interesting event next year.
